PROJECT OVERVIEW

The CPV Jugfork Solar Project is a proposed 200-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar farm with a 20 MW /80 MWh battery energy storage system located in both Lee and Union County, Mississippi. The project will create a new source of clean, renewable energy for the region while improving the grid’s energy reliability. Once operational, CPV Jugfork Solar will produce approximately 470,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually; enough to power 33,400 average Mississippi households.

COMMUNITY BENEFITS

  • New, long-term revenue for Lee and Union Counties to support community services.
  • Creates approximately 300 jobs during construction. Local firms and individuals will be considered for engineering, surveying, and site preparation services during project development.
  • Reliable energy source for TVA service territory through onsite battery storage.

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

  • Improves soil quality and increases health of pollinator population at project site through planned integration of native, pollinator-friendly vegetation and grasses.
  • Creates energy diversity and curbs pollution to enhance air quality.
  • Emissions-free electricity generated by the solar farm will offset CO2 equivalent to taking 43,000 average combustion cars off the road.
  • Helps TVA meet 2050 Net Zero Carbon Emissions goal.
