Project Overview

CPV Fairview Energy Center (CPV Fairview) is a 1,050 MW natural gas-fueled combined-cycle power generation facility located in Jackson Township in Cambria County, PA. Operational since December 2019, CPV Fairview was built in 28 months by local and national contractors requiring 2.6 million hours and more than 600 union labor workers.

CPV Fairview generates enough electricity on average to power more than 1 million homes, helping Pennsylvania to safely meet its demand for energy with reliable, cost-effective and environmentally responsible low-emissions generation.

Through our use of General Electric’s (GE) advanced power generation technology, CPV Fairview provides a highly reliable and efficient power source for PA and allows for the safe retirement of older resources while helping to maintain reliability as intermittent resources such as wind and solar are integrated onto the grid.

Community Benefits

  • Has created substantial local and regional benefits including hundreds of millions of dollars in private infrastructure investment.
  • Provided significant revenue for the state in sales tax during construction and hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenues for local governments and businesses.
  • Employs 23 full-time staff earning approximately $3 – 4 million dollars in annual salaries and benefits and the project also provides around 75 ancillary jobs to the local community.
  • From sponsoring key community events like the Jackson Heritage Festival and organizations such as the Central Cambria Education Foundation, to providing support for the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department, we believe strongly in investing in the communities in which we operate and invest.

Environmental Benefits

  • As part of CPV’s commitment to conserving natural resources, the facility utilizes industrial water from the Cambria Somerset Authority (CSA) for non-contact cooling purposes, sourced through a new 8-mile, 24″ pipeline and 2 electric-powered pump stations built by CPV and owned and operated by CSA. Once the water cycles through the plant multiple times, it is treated and returned to the CSA as reclaimed water where it can be used again for industrial processes.
  • One of the most efficient generators in Pennsylvania, deploying GE’s industry-leading combined cycle gas turbines operating with >63% net combined cycle efficiency.
  • CPV Fairview is the only GE-supplied facility with dual ethane and natural gas capability: the facility is capable of blending ethane with natural gas by virtue of GE’s DLN2.6+ combustion system for enhanced plant economics.
  • Once a salvage yard classified as a brownfield site, the Fairview site was revitalized for the project including the hauling and removal of 178,355 tons of buried debris, 10 underground storage tanks, and .63 miles of underground piping.
